Skull and Bones – Let’s talk ships! Upcoming ship features

There are many reasons to keep a close eye on the release of Ubisoft’s upcoming game, Skull and Bones. The biggest reason for me is seeing just how customizable are the ships? This article will hopefully add a bit of clarity on the subject and add a little caboose to your hype train!

Ship customization in Skull and Bones

There are apparently 12 different ships that will be available for customization upon release. What it takes to unlock each is a mystery for now. 12 is a really great number to get hyped about, but we do not know whether more will be added later!

What we do know is that Ubisoft is really shooting for quality customization options. These will include both cosmetic and functional loadout options to choose from.

Ship Categories – Skull and Bones
Advertisements

Ship Categories

  • Cargo – these ships are bulky, slow, and do not maneuver well but they can carry a large amount of loot!
  • Navigation – These exploratory vessels make up the fastest of the ship categories. They will not stand up well in a sustained fight and they cannot carry as much as Cargo ships.
  • Firepower – As one would imagine, these are the best battleships. Blocky hulls. Not fast like Navigation ships and not able to carry as much a Cargo ships.

Perks

Each ship will also come equipped with a perk. As you rank up in the world you will unlock varying types of ships with varying skills.

Size and profile

There are some additional factors to consider when choosing which ship to set sail. The Draught Profile determines whether a ship is able to go inland or navigate more shallow depths such as rivers. Larger ships have more Weapon Availability than smaller ships. Giant Ballista or Greek fires may only be mounted on larger ships, but larger ships cannot access rivers or lakes.

Weapons / Loadouts

Weapons Ships Skull and Bones

Cannons

  • Demi-Cannon
Demi-Cannons are short range shotgun style cannons that deal flooding damage.
  • Long gun
Long guns are range and precise weapons that can deal blunt or fire damage. May be slow to fire.

Mortars

There are 3 types of mortars revealed to us so far. They are:

Advertisements
  • Blasting Mortar
The Blasting Mortar deals a large explosive radius but can take longer to reach its target. Deals explosive damage.
  • Siege Mortar
Siege Mortars blast radius is a bit less than its counterparts, but it does deal a very high amount of damage called, crushing damage.
  • Repair Mortar
The Repair Mortar is a unique mortar in that it deals no damage. It repairs allied ships.

Bombard

  • Siege Bombard
Siege Bombards create a large blast radius of piercing damage in a reduced area.
  • Flaming Bombard
As one would expect, Flaming Bombards deal fire damage.
  • Repair Bombard
Like the Repair Mortar, Repair Bombards repair allied ships. Bombards have a shorter range than mortars.

Ballista

There are 2 types of ballistae, Multibolt and Twin Winch.

  • Multibolt Ballista inaccurately fires a full bundle of bolts that deal flooding damage.
  • Twin Winch Ballista are long ranged and accurate bolt firers that deal piercing damage.
Advertisements

Rockets

Yes, we get friggin’ rockets!

  • Revolver Rockets – less shots than a field rocket but is piercing damage.
  • Field Rockets – fire a volley of rockets with improved range and speed over the revolver rockets. Deals explosive damage.

Torpedoes

Greek Fire – Skull & Bones
  • Quick Release – flood damage
  • Explosive – explosive damage

Greek Fire

The Greek Fire is a short-range flame thrower.

Other attachments are items such as cargo bags. Cargo bags attach externally to the ship and allow for carrying larger amounts of cargo. These will take damage which can be good or bad. Since they attach externally, damage taken by the cargo bags may not damage the integrity of the ship. On the flip side, you may lose all your loot!

You may also acquire some furniture for your ship. Furniture can do a variety of things. It may add buffs to crew, improve their morale, or just provide that Feng Shui you’ve been looking for!

Skull and Bones from Ubisoft – release details and more!

Ubisoft’s new Skull and Bones game release details & more!

Skull and Bones is an upcoming action & adventure title that was inspired by the Golden Age of Piracy. There are some games out there which allow the gamer to release their inner pirate, so why should we care about this Ubisoft original title?

For starters, the game looks incredible!

Key features:

  • Made by Ubisoft
  • PvE or PvEvP
  • Ship customization
  • Graphically pleasing
  • 2 buddy passes to invite your friend for a free trial
Advertisements

Made by Ubisoft

Ubisoft has released a game or two that was not quite optimized for gameplay. Siege is a great example of what I am talking about. The game released with some criticism but was able to rise to high levels of excellence. I do expect this game to need some polish upon release as we are having to get used to that in the new era of gaming. Ubisoft does work diligently to improve their games.

PvE or PvEvP

There are a couple of piracy themed games available on all platforms. One of the bigger issues with these games is appealing to those who do not seek player versus player experiences. Skull and Bones will appease those with its handling of PvE and PvEvP modes that will be available to all.

Ships

12 different types of ships will be in the initial release of the game. This is a very exciting concept as we keep a close eye on the exact customization news. I am mostly interested in seeing the depth of customization that is going to roll out upon release. A mixture of weapon types that are optimized for varying levels of piracy will be key. I also want to see many cosmetic options available!

Advertisements

Visuals

We haven’t seen an incredible amount of what we are getting at launch; however, the little we have seen looks quite incredible! Ubisoft does not typically struggle in the nice-looking game department. I have no reason to suspect this will change with Skull & Bones.

Buddy Passes

Ubisoft is allowing anyone who bought the game to hand out up to 2 buddy passes. These will allow the owner of the game to let their friends try out the game for a limited time.

Madden 23 BETA – What’s new with Madden 23

Madden 23 look – what’s new?

Madden releases a new game every year. It is almost a holiday with everything going on around the Madden release. Releasing player ratings, introducing the cover, and announcing the changes is just part of the overall experience.

Madden 23 Alpha looks, and Beta plays are coming and going, and we are starting to get an idea of what to expect in EA’s latest shot at the title.

So, what is new?

It appears that EA Sports is listening to the public again. That is rarely a good thing for any franchise; however, this one is good for the franchise mode of the game. Yes, it appears that Madden 23 will focus heavily on making the Franchise mode of the game much better.

Madden 23 looks to improve Franchise Mode with such things as:

  • More in-depth scouting and free agency periods.
  • “Smart” free agency periods where players may prefer or even demand certain things like money, wanting a bigger market team, or even wanting to play somewhere warmer. They may even offer team friendly deals if they enjoy playing for their team.
  • Technical improvements
  • Changes to the players mechanics

There is a lot to be excited about with the new Madden 23. Will you be playing?

Ranking Call of Duty Games by tier S, A, B, C, D, F (S being elite)

Ranking CoD live on YouTube
Advertisements

S Tier

1. Modern Warfare (*GOAT*)
2. Modern Warfare 3
3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (OG Modern Warfare)

The S tier seemed to fill up with Modern Warfare games fairly fast. I reckon I am a bit soft to the MW series of the franchise. Perhaps a Black Ops lover would have a much different list. The GOAT here is the newer of the Modern Warfare’s. This is 2 slam dunk games wrapped in one, so it is tough to beat!

Advertisements

A Tier

4. Call of Duty (OG)
5. World at War
6. Black Ops (1)
7. Vanguard

Vanguard was much higher than the YouTube commenter claimed (at least for me).

B Tier

8. Call of Duty 2
9. WWII
10. Modern Warfare 2
11. Black Ops 2

I am not trying to take anything away from the games here. B tier games are very solid games!

C Tier

12. Black Ops 4
13. Black Ops 3

These games could have been much better. It does appear that I am not as much of a fan of the Black Ops series as others. I did enjoy them, but they are not my favorite for sure.

D Tier

14. Call of Duty 3
15. Infinite Warfare

These games simply were not special.

F Tier

16. Cold War

The Long Dark – Survival Rating

RogueSurvival – Rating and Review of The Long Dark

The Long Dark is a true survival game published by Hinterland Studios. You play as a pilot that has crash-landed in the middle of an ice cold, Canadian wilderness. The game prides itself on there being no fantastical threat. The challenges are the wilderness, freezing temperatures, and the Canadian wildlife.

It is great to see a true survival game. The game has a lot going for it; however, there are a few things left to be desired. We will label it all below.

RogueSurvival

Resource Management
Resources can be very scarce in this game. That is a nice touch to any true survival game. It can make things quite difficult when braving the elements and trying to find an accelerant to start your campfire. We love that!

Crafting & Building
Many items were very difficult to craft as the required items were scarce. Then you find good items in unlikely places. I was underwhelmed by the crafting and building system.

Survivability
The survival aspects of the game are all present. The cold is your worst nightmare. There are also wolves and other dynamic threats as well. I very much enjoy the harshness of the true survivor feel of the game.

Gameplay
The game just feels a little slow. I do believe that was intentional, but there is simply something missing here. Also, very few items are interactive. Many drawers, boxes, cupboards, and the like were unable to be looted. The loot boxes that do open can have some glitching if you do not hold the interaction button correctly.

Other things I noticed:

  • Climbing is terrible
  • Animals (especially predators) are a little wonky
  • Seems very focused on story aspects

Story
One could see the effort that was put into creating the story. It is very compelling and dramatic. The episodes are individually fairly short, but each has its own share of challenges.

Open Worldliness
The game seems very open. It is very difficult to travel for extended periods of time due to the weather. This feature allows the game map to seem even bigger than it is. Sprinting is also not a button one could simply spam to get around better. The cold, stamina, and environmental concerns disallow that.

PvE vs PvP

PvP? We don’t do that here. You have enough concerns. The PvE aspects are very harsh. This game was intended for use of solo players. Wildlife and the harsh Canadian environment are the primary concerns.

Creativity
The game has its niche. It’s just you against the environment. This is honestly a nice touch. There are no zombies, no aliens -just you.

Overall
The game could certainly use some polishing. There are a variety of game modes and difficulty levels for a wide array of player types to enjoy a playthrough or two. The biggest issues are it feels a tad slow and unfinished.

Power Ranking NFL Teams after the Draft

NFL Teams have a new level of hype surrounding them after making their selections at the 2022 NFL Draft in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Power Ranking NFL Teams after the Draft

We think we can properly rank them now that we have had some time to think about how the selections improve their respective ball clubs.

Here is your top 5 NFL Teams going into the 2022 NFL Season after the draft.

Top 5 NFL Power Rankings

1. Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos addition of Russell Wilson this offseason was huge. They did have to give up some starting caliber players to do so, but this is a team that was a QB away. Adding one of the best to ever do it is huge for me.

2. Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are a very complete team. They attempted to get better in the back field this offseason and made some other key additions. I expect them to be in the mix for a 1 seed by the end of the season.

3. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts were another team that was a QB away from greatness last year. They looked at what the Rams did last year in bringing in a veteran quarterback in Matt Stafford. The Matt Ryan addition will be huge. Not to mention they still have Jonathon Taylor.

4. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams won the Superbowl last year. How do they fall to this spot? We will see how the Superbowl hang over hits this team. Can they bounce right back?

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This team is in the top 5 talk as long as Tom Brady is on this roster.

This is a very loaded AFC Conference this year. The Chiefs don’t even make the top five which may surprise some folks. See where the Chiefs end up below as we continue the ranking.

Top Blockchain Games to play right now.

This article will showcase my favorite blockchain games that are able to be played right now. Many blockchain games you find are years away from reaching their potential; however, the ones you see here are at least playable to a decent degree.

No blockchain game is considered complete as the crypto gaming world still needs some time to develop as a whole. These games showcased here are as ready as it gets and are very fun!

The list

1. Blankos Block Party

See Las Vegas? Let’s talk hotels – The Stratosphere Las Vegas, Nevada

Are you traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada in the near future? Before you go blowing your wad on a hotel, read this article.

Las Vegas is one of the most visited cities in the United States. Sure, it is a tad run down these days, but there are many places to dive into a drunken adventure all along the strip. There are also many historical spots and museums for the tamer crews out there.

Photo by Dave Morgan on Pexels.com

I would love to tell you about a place to stay in this article; however, this will quickly turn into a hate for the Stratosphere article in just a second. Continue reading.

The Stratosphere Review

The Stratosphere is easily one of the worst hotels we had ever stayed at. I am including the Motel 6’s and Super 8’s of the world in that remark. The management team at the Strat uses terrible tactics to get you to spend lots of money on absolutely nothing. I will get to my remarks on that later in the article.

Key points

  • Not worth the money
  • Dirty, outdated rooms
  • Terrible business practices
  • Very far from the action
  • Restaurants were decent

The Strat not worth the money?

Absolutely not. One might think that a large hotel, a part of a large hotel system would be at least acceptable by modern standards. This was not the case. Let’s first talk about how reservations work. We booked our reservation far in advance. We then find out upon arrival our room was unavailable and that we needed to upgrade in order to have a place to sleep. That was an extra $450 dollars more than the $300 reserved room. You think the spending spree is over now? Not quite. There was an additional $200 waiting for us at checkout. That’s almost 1000 bucks for a room that was:

Dirty and outdated

Yes. One, I found stickers in the floor. Stickers like from outside that poke your feet. This tells me that very little vacuuming had happened prior to our move in. We were told that our “upgrade” would include a microwave. It did not. It did have a shower drain that couldn’t drain. That was nice of them. The room looked like something you would see Mickey and Mallory Knox staying in on their killing spree in, “Natural Born Killers”.

Terrible business practices

I kind of get it. Your miles away from the action and your hotel sucks so you have to squeeze as much money out of folks as possible. Hopefully, you get right in the future.

Far from the action

You will be walking a ton in this city. That can be a great thing, but it is not in this case. The Stratosphere is about 3 miles away from everything you will want to do in Las Vegas.

The Stratosphere Restaurants were decent

I wouldn’t say they were great dining establishments here at the Strat. The food was decent at best. I rather enjoyed The Strat Benny for breakfast. Here are the restaurants you can choose from:

  • Top of the World
  • PT’s Wings & Sports
  • McCall’s Heartland Grill
  • Strat Cafe
  • 108 Eats
  • Elation Pool Cafe & Bar
  • Nunzio’s Pizzeria
  • Starbucks

I recommend the Strat Cafe and Starbucks. The Cafe is okay. Get some breakfast before you go on your way (but I don’t recommend staying at this hotel so it would not be worth it to walk here.) Most Starbucks in town will have long lines. This one does not.

Final Thoughts

Do not stay here.

Want to be a space outlaw? No Man’s Sky’s latest update – everything in No Man’s Sky: Outlaws update

No Man’s Sky is all the buzz yet again as the latest update brings some very interesting new toys and features.

What are these toys and features?

No Man’s Sky Space Outlaws Update

Want to be a space outlaw? No Man’s Sky’s latest update Outlaws – No Man’s Sky: Outlaws

Starships

After all these years, NMS is finally upping the owned ship count. Now, Hello Gamers can own up to 9 starships.

Advertisements

This feature is perfectly timed too because they have also added a new Solar Ship to the universe for us to collect. Several variations are available that allow the player to show off their unique new ship! There are also more high-capacity cargo upgrades available for ships.

Outlaws Space Stations

Space stations across the galaxy have fallen to outlaw control. Rebel forces have seized system authority, forcing their surrender, and opening space for piracy.

Outlaw Systems have:

  • Technology Merchants – contraband marketplaces
  • Pirate Mission Agents – get rewarded for completing piracy missions. The Bounty Master offers high value missions to willing pirates.

Space Combat

Space combat has received massive improvements. Risks and reward have been rebalanced for a greater overall experience. Explosions will also now be more dramatic.

Auto Pilot can be employed to enable automatic target locking in space combat. This mode automatic tracks enemy ships.

Energy Shields – Pirate, trader, and sentinel starships now come equipped with energy shields. These have varying strength and recharge speed.

Advertisements

Starship weapons have been rebalanced to promote tactical decisions during combat, each will also have a different effect on ships, shields, and other parts. Example, the Cyclotron Ballista will now disable ship engines while the Phase Beam can leech shield energy.

Fleet Changes

You will now be able to see passing fleets while on planetary surfaces. Look up from time to time, you will see them. Additionally, the warp and engine effects of all frigates and freighters have been overhauled.

Smuggling & Piracy

Purchase contraband goods and smuggle them into regulated systems for large profits. System authorities may scan passing ships and probe their cargo for illegal goods. Those sentinel interceptors will be primed to stop the sale of such goods. Cargo probe deflectors can be installed for professional smugglers.

Interstellar piracy will deliver great rewards. Those that prey on trader ships or passing freighters will receive greater rewards. These actions will decrease your reputation with the faction involved; however, this can now be restored by presenting a Forged Passport to the Station Core, located inside any regulated space station.

Advertisements

In-Atmosphere Combat

Settlements, bases, and anything else on planetary surfaces are no longer safe from ship combat. You may now need to engage in fierce dogfights against outlaw or sentinel ships within planetary atmospheres.

Squadrons

Now, you can have a full-on posse. Recruit roaming pilots into your squadron to accompany you. They will fly in formation if requested and will automatically warp to you in the event you get locked into combat. These Wingmen can be managed and upgraded. Do this from the comfort of your Manage Fleet Terminal aboard your capital ship.
