Cyberpunk 2077 First Impression & Gameplay w/ RogueGOOSE1

Cyberpunk 2077 has been out for mere hours, yet RogueGOOSE1 has now played it for several of those hours. Here is my first thoughts of the game, and some gameplay footage to add some flavor to the article. Had a blast playing.

First impression
What does the game remind me of?

Before launch I was anticipating a Grand Theft Auto 5 vibe. I wasn’t entirely incorrect with this assumption, but there was a bit more to it. Cyberpunk 2077’s gameplay hit me with that GTA 5 feel, but also gave me a Borderlands feel. It’s like if Borderlands 3 mated with GTA V.

Why is that? The combat, the loot system, and the overall mechanics feel like Borderlands. Then you throw in the gigantic open-world of a dense city for the GTA vibe.

Did I like it?

Indeed. I thoroughly enjoyed GTA 5 and Borderlands 3. Cyberpunk 2077 almost had me playing a bit of both those games after my CP2077 session because of how much the gameplay reminded me of them. CD Projekt Red does put in some unique vibes though. I highly recommend this game to all audiences.

I am not one for story games. The beginning of the game does kind of guide you in a specific way. I hate linear gameplay. Cyberpunk does this to get you spun up on the various controls, and then let’s you control your destiny from there.

Pros:

  • Feels like GTA 5 had a baby with Borderlands 3
  • Stops holding your hand quickly
  • Beautiful Scenery
  • Interesting Story
  • Open-worldliness

Cons:

  • Blue screened a bit on PS4
  • Game didn’t appear completely finished

For the pros, there is a lot to like about this game. Virtual photographers are going to love the scenery, and I love the roam-ability of the city.

As for the cons; yes, I did bluescreen a number of times. This is always annoying, but common for a newly released game. The game had also been delayed previously as CD Projekt Red subtly admits that it isn’t completely finished. That is evident from the graphics having some issues early on. Nothing to deter me from continuing my adventures in the Night City.

Conclusion

Absolutely love the game so far. I haven’t completed it yet, but do intend to. I hope you are all enjoying it! Let me know on Facebook, Discord, or in the comments here!
